Gardening

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

I had to work late last Friday night. Late enough that I didn’t get home till after 11pm. During this free time The Boy invited a friend over to The Brick House to keep him company.

When I got home that night I found this (well, except it was darker cause it was nighttime).

And this.

Yes, it’s a tree. Cut down with a jigsaw? Whhhaaattt?

Look closely.

There may be a clue hidden under the leaves that might explain why this seemed like an appropriate plan of action on a late Friday evening…

Oh. That solves it. Classy.

In The Boy’s and his accomplices defense the tree did need to be removed. It’s one of these crazy quick growing trees that are all over the desert and it was totally screwing up the cement foundation near the garage and back patio. This wasn’t really the way I expected the problem to be solved but still it is kind of solved…soooo thank you guys? Good job, I guess.

No more drunk gardening.

Holler Bloggers

OK.

I’m thinking about redesigning the old Brick House blog to something with a real url and a better design with BIGGER pictures.

I am not html savvy and barely css literate. I can’t totally code my own site, but I would like to expand and have a little more control over the design, navigation and capability’s of this here blog. I think it’s time for an upgrade of sorts to coincide with the relaunching of my vintage store…which I also want to move out of etsy…

Most of this stuff I find very intimidating and extremely perplexing. Please don’t judge me for sounding like a total amateur nerd (because I am) but I’m pleading for some fellow blogger advice:

What platform have you used and loved in terms of customizing your site?

Should I move to another service like WordPress or Tumblr?

Did you use particular themes and customize them or did you build your own layout on another program like Dreamweaver or Rapidweaver?

Any help would be SO very appreciated. I should probably go take a class at the community college or something.

Thrifty!

Besides the fancy new Danish light in the living room I picked a couple of other things up this weekend.

Nothing is better than cheap discontinued Ikea at a thrift store. Well actually, there is a lot better than that…butter pecan ice cream, back rubs, puppies, butterfly kisses…but these IKEA PS VÅGÖ chairs from the 2001 PS collection are still pretty rad.

Also found my first piece of vintage Rosti. I’ve been on a mad hunt for this stuff for awhile, but these babies just keep alluding me. Now I have a poo brown mixing bowl. The hunt continues…
