The internet has spoken

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

The dining room face off has ended with a resounding – move the goddamn hutch to the other side.

So here it is.

I did think the hutch looked better on the other side of the door – but I can admit I was wrong. I’m not totally psyched about the needlework fruit bowl art, but I will eventually find something that will work better. The lady portrait was way to large to fit in the area next to the door and has found a new home elsewhere.

Some folks thought it might be nice to turn the table the other way – door to door. The dining room is pretty shallow and doesn’t allow for the full length of the table without intruding into the living room. Oh well…that table is pretty big.

Now I just need beautiful things to display on my pretty pretty hutch.

But now that I look at things I am starting to yearn for something more minimal, more dramatic, very sexy, and less mid century. Dammit.

(The Parker via My Marrakesh)

Finally!

I’ve been dying to know what these rugs were ever since I saw them at The Parker in Palm Springs. When I saw them pop up at Desire to Inspire via images of April Tidey’s amazing interiors I just had to ask. Thanks to midcenturyjo I now know.

Moroccan Beni Ouarain Rugs

I’m blogging it here so I don’t forget.

***A quick google informed me that they are VERY expensive…so never mind. You will never see them at The Brick House. Boo Hoo.

Etsy

I’ve got a few new items at the old Etsy store.

We’ve been cleaning up the guest room (or what I like to call “the pit”) getting ready for some long term house guests arriving in a few weeks. I hope to get more items up at the store that have been hiding away in all sorts of nooks and crannies.

But now for your shopping delight…
