Hot seat

Oh yeah. New toilet seat.

BEFORE (actually way before without, floors or molding) and AFTER (its still without caulk and paint, but whatever I’m busy, who’s asking?)

I’ve been having some trouble finding a pink toilet seat to match my old pink toilet. I stopped by ACE Hardware and unexpectedly ran into this pink beauty.

Well I just noticed you can buy this Mayfair pink toilet seat on the website for around $10 and I paid $16 in store. What a rip off – well I guess if you count shipping and waiting – its OK.

A small detail, but it makes a world of difference. Now if only I can find pink bolt covers…

Laundry room of doom

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

The second bathroom.
That little sore spot on the roof of my mouth that won’t heal because I can’t stop
tonguing it.

Theres a toilet and a stand-up shower, oh and the most ghetto laundry hook-ups ever. The washer drains into the utility sink and the dryer – it vents out a hole cut in the nailed shut door. The plastic tiles are falling off the walls, and the whole thing looks like something out of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Luckily there is a pocket door that shuts the whole thing off from the kitchen.

This will be my BIG BIG BIG project. Reworking the space, redoing the plumbing and electric – this one will take awhile.

But at least the dryer is not on the back porch anymore.

Moulding

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

This past weekend we installed new moulding in the kitchen and bathroom to replace the cheap vinyl commercial-grade sticky moulding that the previous owners installed. We also painted everything bright white. Lot and lots of painting has been happening…

Before moulding:

And after:

We also started installing moulding in the pink bathroom, but haven’t quite finished. It needs to wrap around the built-ins and the walls need to be patched, sanded and then painted. More goddamn paint.

The plug of doom got a mini makeover with electrical tape and an adapter and now we were able to bring in the fridge (finally) from the garage. It looks so weird! It also makes the kitchen feel tiny. I’m not sure what to do…we might need to get an older fridge to match the style of the cabinets and stove. Just as I thought we were getting somewhere with the kitchen, curses!
