Thrifty!

I picked up this vintage dog portrait painting signed Connie from a local antiques store this weekend. I thrifted my little black heart out and turned up with nothing and maybe got a little reckless.

This painting has been leaning against the back wall of a dusty little shop for over a year and I always really loved it, but at $125 it was totally (insanely) priced way too high. It got marked down to $85 a few months ago, but was still way more than I’d care to pay.

This painting always stuck out in my head because it reminded me of that white dog painting in the now defunct Flight of the Conchords show.

See it? It’s back there…lurking.
I love me some Bret and Jemaine.

Well, frustrated, tired and a little pissy from coming up short all weekend I offered $30 for it.

Obviously, NOPE. $125 to $30, are you crazy girl!?! I paid more for it than that…is what the dusty old lady said.

So, we eventually came to a $50 agreement. Way more than I would have liked, but hell, nothing is going to bring back my Bret and Jemaine. This little black doggy is that perfect mixture of unnerving and awesome, reminds me of the Conchords and is a welcome animal addition to the motley assortment of vintage portraits slowly taking over the house.

Holler.

I’ve mentioned my love of all things Ben Seibel. I suspect the universe heard, but just missed the mark on exactly what it is that I really want. Not that I’m complaining – I just really want some goddamn bookends.

I stopped by my local Angel View (where the prices are much more reasonable) on the way to Target on Sunday. I looked around, didn’t find much of anything and decided to check out the two front jewelry cases where they normally keep the small and pricier items.

Scattered around the cases I saw a slew of vintage Jenfred-ware. I bought it all and was very, very pleased.

The Boy and I headed out to Palm Springs on Saturday to do a little thrifting and grab lunch. It was 109 degrees with no humidity, but only felt like the face of the goddamn Sun.

I got my first little Danish Viking dude for $6.99 at the most overpriced Angel View Thrift in the whole wide world. Did someone say $1200 for a coffee table? OH, hell no.

I have to admit that store has some of the coolest, wackiest shiz I have ever seen. I get offended by the high prices but always see something totally insane that makes it worth it.

Rock it to me.

I’m totally all into geodes and Revival Thrift helped me out. I’m not sure what I’ll do with these slices, maybe coasters?

Studio pottery always call my name and can usually be thrifted pretty cheap. I paid a $1 for each.

That was it, nothing too exciting. I think I’m running out of room and getting a little more picky about what I schlep home.
