DIY Shelf

Check it out!

Another Ace Hotel inspired shelving unit from the blog Ascot Friday. I’m going to take a little credit for inspiring this awesome project, you know, cause I’m just a bit of a narcissist. She did a great job, it looks so very lovely and is super budget friendly. Anyone can really do this pretty simply.

What really peaked my interest is that rad typography poster.

Looks like it’s the new OLUNDA poster from Ikea. I have to admit it’s the first print from Ikea I’ve ever really considered buying. Now I’ve got to see it in person…

Oh you know I saved the best for last.

Danish. Vintage. Credenza. What? Over seven feet long with tons of storage?

How much?

$29.99

Oh yes, my bi-otches. Thirty f*ing dollars.

But how is this low low price possible from the same thrift store (the most overpriced Angel View thrift in all of Palm Springs) that has had a $1,200 fugly coffee table and a $4,500 broken patio set?

Well, there are a few issues.

Number One: Those lovely skeleton key holes – there are four of them and they are all locked. I’ve got no key and I’ve been trying to jimmy the locks by following all the advice I can google.

If anyone has a suggestion for picking these locks, I’d love to hear it.

Number Two: It’s missing the entire left side corner trim piece. So that really sucks, but I feel it could be patched and remedied…just probably not anytime soon and not 100% seamlessly.

Number Three: General vintage wear and tear. Not too bad considering the price, I’ve seen and fixed worse. A few water stains, some light scratching and overall it’s a bit dried out and in need of a good oiling.

Even with all the problems I think it’s still a beautiful piece worthy of fixing up. I’m not sure where this behemoth will end up in the house, but for now its chilling in the living room.

What? Another Ben Seibel piece of Jenfred-ware?

From the same thrift store I hauled in all those other pieces?

This large bowl is “Modern in the tradition of good taste”. Especially for $2.99.

Still no bookends though
