Yup

I just couldn’t take the open bookcases anymore. I’m a retarded maniac – I know I know.
So…

Carpenter Craig and The Boy got enlisted to install some simple finished plywood doors. How cute are they? Go awkward teamwork!

The doors still need some more finish work and I’m thinking they need some handles. Like so.

But with way less pink and more raw wood.

The other open shelving project in the living room is moving along slowly as well. Plus I think I figured out a place for the big yellow lamp…ch-ch-changes.

Hardoy Butterfly Chairs

Ahhhhhhhh, the pleasing beautiful symmetry of a matching pair.
*Don’t mind the messy bookcases, they are getting ready for a big change.

I picked up a pair of vintage Knoll Hardoy Butterfly (BFK) Chairs for $60 a pop off of craigslist. Now I have three of these babies. Admittedly an odd amount for one small house.

I dream they will one day be finished off with
leather slings. Like so:

Yummm. Leather.

I’ve found it difficult to source a buttery leather sling that doesn’t cost a fortune. Circa 50 has them, but at $200+ for just one – I’ll have to pass. I may just have to have one fabricated or DIY it.

While I wait for the ultimate leather version to pop up I’m going to use some cheap-o black canvas slings that should arrive shortly through the power of ebay.

So the pair should look like so:

They need a little sanding and a fresh coat of black paint, but in no time they will be BRINGING it (stylewise) to the living room.

Over easy

My big yellow lamp from ebay arrived. And it is BIG.

It needs a little more work than inferred on the ebay listing, which is annoying and seems to keep happening to me. The last three things I’ve gotten have arrived filthy, not well packed and way more damaged than described. Makes me want to stop shopping ebay.

For $9.99 and $25.81 shipping its not too bad and makes a BIG statement. Although it probably does need another $10 in new wiring and bits.

I didn’t really think too far ahead about where this big bad boy would actually go.

Hmmmm. My design plan with the house so far seems to be:

-Buy crap I like.
-Figure it out later.

Which would probably horrify any real interior designer.

I really dig this lamp and imagine it will end up swagged on the covered patio over the “dining table” that is planned but not actually constructed. Yup, this patio which still looks just like that pic taken in June. Ugh.
