Stacking logs

I think I will fill up my fireplace with logs.

The dark fireplace in the living room seems to be a little empty and this appears to be a quick and easy solution to sophisticate up its gaping black maw. BTW, we do not use our fireplace. The Brick House is located in the California desert and not in like a cozy snowy mountain retreat…so fires are gross and make things smelly.

Anyone ever do this? Is it weird?

See.

I told you that I would style this bitch up.

Probably just a temporary installation…

Thrifty!

The other thing I picked up on my thrifty adventures is this geode. Its awesomely large and insanely heavy. Like a wonderful amethyst vagina.

I’ve been on the hunt for big mineral clusters for what seems like forever. Ebay has forsaken me (those gem nerds pay a FORTUNE for these things) plus shipping these rocks can be cost prohibitive. I found a little crappy section of an even crappier vintage mall that had geodes, mineral specimens and those light up pictures of dolphins that move and make ocean sounds.

This big boy sold me and I can’t wait to incorporate it into the decor. I smell a bit of an obsession brewing…

Looks like I’m a rock hound as well as a furniture fanatic. Mineral specimens make great additions for a little vignette bling. I have to be careful though, I don’t want t to get all new-agey in here or some crap.
